I just put a new painting of mine on Etsy. You all know the Hypnowl, don’tcha? It’s 30x40cm / ~12x16in, acrylics and gouache on canvas. For more details, go to Etsy.
More pics after the jump.

Koyama Press is a Toronto-based publisher of comics, graphic novels and zines, among other things. Once in a while artists are encouraged to reinterpret the “Kick-ass Annie” logo in their own style. (This is my take, FYI) You can check out previous renditions on their Flickr set. Enjoy!

This is kind of a freestyle drawing. It started with the phrase “RUN, it’s HUMANS!”. At first I just wanted to make a typographic t-shirt with the sentence (Actually, I still might.), but couldn’t come up with a satisfactory design. After playing around with the type and some pictograms I figured I should tackle the idea with my usual approach. After taking it to Photoshop, doodling, adding, removing and refining I came up with what you can see above. Enjoy! It’s also available on Society6.

In my free time I sometimes tinker with vectors. They’re cool because combined with a grid they enable me to create artwork just by clicking with the mouse. That’s good when I can’t hold a pen in my hand. Last week, I made a series of prints using the Australian States as a theme. Yesterday I wrapped up the series with the Australian Capital Territory, using the wombat as a mascot. On Society6, I gave my vector work its own studio: Zeitverflug.

People love Owls, and boy am I fascinated with them since one them big headed, soundlessly-flying winged critters almost crashed head-on into my face one night in our garden. Watch out for more Hypnowl-craze in the next days. This one will be going to the Art for Japan auction later this month. Stay tuned for that as well!
Available as a print and more at Society6
