Great stuff: Before I even started working on the Hypnowl Empire (my upcoming t-shirt label – haven’t I told you about it?), I applied for AS Colour’s A Little Help Project. The Kiwi T-shirt makers are giving away a start up package worth $10,000 to the most popular t-shirt design as determined by Facebook-likes and sales in their retail shops in Auckland, Wellington and Sydney.
A jury of jet set t-shirt people picked the top 10 entries out of a whole heap of submissions, now it’s up to the people to vote the best. If you want to help me win the thing, there’s a lot you can do with ridiculously little effort:
I’ll keep you posted!

After several months I again had the time to make a little weekend project. No plan, no concept, just experimenting. Now that I think about it I might make a book out of it. What do you think?
Oh, and it’s also available as a print and more on Society6

Once in a while I send out promo postcards to potential clients. Most of the writing on them is printed, but I illustrate the greeting and the address by hand, which is also a sort of creative exercise. I actually like the address illustrations a tad better, but it would be awkward to publish my mailing list, so I hope I get hired by loads of them, so I can publish their designs. HELLO!
P.S. If you’re an agency, magazine, company or other that would like to receive my promo mailers in the future, just leave a comment or contact me at heiko at heikowindisch.com!

One of the new Threadless challenges is “Death”, so that was basically a call to action for me. Click here to check it out and vote for it! Thank you!

There are five (5) new originals of mine available on my Etsy now: Panda Lazy, Monkey Crazy, Elephants in Pool, Rhino Eats Fruit, Koalas in Ute. They’re all around postcard size, drawn on 190 gsm paper, but there are more details on Etsy, if you’re interested. Enjoy! Link

There’s a new zine in town, and it’s tiny (just 5.25 cm × 7.4 cm / 2 1/8 × 2 7/8 in): SUP! 6 new illustrations, 8 pages including the cover. Animals doing summertime shenanigans, like monkeys riding giant motorcycles, rhinos eating watermelons, elephants sitting in a pool and more.

As a new year’s special you can get it for free if you order any size giclée print from the store. Just add the word SUPDUDE as a note to your order. Enjoy and see you in the new year! Thank you for reading this blog!

Now for something different: Der Freitag is a German newspaper from Berlin that I’ve worked with before on several occasions. Today’s issue has an illustration by me of Karl Marx. When I was asked to illustrate the article all I had was an outline of the article to be (a fictional interview with Karl Marx about today’s state of capitalism and what he would likely say about it now), but most of the time that’s all it takes. Also, I’ll grab any opportunity I’ll have to draw a bloke with a beard as magnificent as Karlo’s.
