One week ago Lilly and I drove to Zürich to attend the Illustrative Festival, where I was nominated for the Young Illustrators Award. Thursday was the hanging, friday was the vernissage/opening and saturday was the award night. Win I did not, but we had a nice time anyway, some great work was seen, some nice people were met and many swiss franks were spent just being there.

The thing had a glass cock, which you can hardly see in the picture. The whole thing looked magnificent in person.

Gary Taxali had a workshop at the Illustrative, which we missed because we went to the Lindt chocolate factory instead.

All sorts of ancient Greek mythology crammed into one big drawing, which of course looks much better in person. Shame on me for not taking a note of the artist’s name.

There were a couple of booths from agencies, like “Taiko&Associates”, which were the only ones who actually walked up to us to tell us about their roster. In the most charming way, of course.

“Cloudcuckoostudio” gave me some bluetack to hang my prints, which they had already seen at Print Club in London, of course. Horribly small world, that is.

All the nominees of the various YIA categories, plus a few more. Kudos to Señor Johannsen (brown corduroy jacket), if he ever reads this.
That’s it for now,
Love,
-Heiko.
