Etsy Round-up, Post – Finders Keepers

By in announcements, merchandise, store

Two days have passed since coming back from the Finders Keepers market in Brisbane. What a fantastic weekend it was! Loads of people came by, cosplayers walked on the other side of the road for the Supanova festival which happened at the same time; many friends came by or manned their own stalls, people said many nice things about my work and bought lots of stuff. Hope we can do it again! If you weren’t able to come, I’ve put most of the products on my Etsy, and if you’ve bought something at the markets, be sure to use your coupons at your next checkout! Peace Bunny: New Shirt at Graniph

By in announcements, store

I love graniph. Their range is bright, colourful, wacky, postmodern, whimsical, random and funny. Just about everything I love about Japanese pop culture. And, of course, they’re always open about my bright, colourful, wacky [...] ideas, which makes it so much fun to work with them. Here’s another collaboration, which is for sale on their website (and in their stores, too, I suppose): Heiko Windisch vol.02. They’ve got new t-shirt styles now, too.

The Owl Consultant in Korea

By in announcements, store

Looks like I’ve got another box to tick off, because my designs are now available in South Korea. It’s amazing what you can do these days! The label is called “ist kunst” (which, if you haven’t guessed it yet, means “is art” in German.) and there are plenty of other hip limited edition designs available. You can look at and purchase the sweatshirt here. Helps if you can read Korean…

The Finders Keepers Brisbane feat. Moi

By in announcements, shows

Exciting News! On the weekend of the 5th and 6th of November, I’ll be having a stall at the Finders Keepers Arts, Crafts and Fashion markets in Brisbane. Lil will be sharing the stand with me, so if you’re in the area, come meet us there! We’ll be selling prints, accessories, postcards, t-shirts and other goods. There’ll be a kaleidoscope of cool stuff, live music and good food in and outside a beautiful Victorian building, so don’t miss it!

An interview with me for the FK website can be found here.

More infos about the Event here.

See you there!

I’ve reopened my Etsy store

By in announcements, store

After a few months in Australia I’ve finally reopened my Etsy store. For now, I’ve stocked it with a few A3 size GiclĂ©e prints, but there’s more to come (more prints, print sizes and other good stuff, too). If there’s a design of mine that you would like to be featured in the shop, let me know and I’ll gladly list it. In the meantime, check out the current range here – and watch this space! Enjoy!

Video: The Making of “Crocodile”

By in artwork

The Making of “Crocodile” from Heiko Windisch on Vimeo.

For this year’s Border Art Prize I decided – being a resident of the Gold Coast now – to submit a painting. The concept for “Crocodile” had been sitting in my sketch book for some time, as much as me wanting to work with a long canvas. Unfortunately, size restrictions for the Prize meant that I couldn’t use the even wider canvas I had purchased earlier, but a 36 x 12 inch frame did the job just as well. At first I had thought about making a live webcast of the painting process, but my messy work habits (with frequent breaks and making up my mind on-the-go about which pattern to use for tree bark) meant that it wouldn’t have made much sense. So here’s the edited version, sped up 64 times to save time. Hope you enjoy!

My piece for the What if… show last night in Chicago

By in artwork

The Temple

It’s called “The Temple”. It’s about religion, sacrifices, futility of repentance, the search for deliverance. Or what do you think?

Anybody been to the show last night? How was it?
