Siggi Eggertsson http://www.heikowindisch.com/blog/2010/09/21/siggi-eggertsson/ http://www.heikowindisch.com/blog/2010/09/21/siggi-eggertsson/#comments Tue, 21 Sep 2010 01:33:23 +0000 http://www.heikowindisch.com/blog/?p=503

Siggi Eggertsson is an Icelandic illustrator and designer living and working in Berlin. All his images are based on a tight grid, which he fills with curves, diagonal lines, gradients and a vibrant palette. This makes a pretty unmistakeable and accessible style and deservingly gives him a comfortable spot in the international illustrator’s jet set.

Sam Schuna is an illustrator and designer from Minnesota, who works with a big fat greek family of styles, none of which he loves less than the other. I like family men.

Exit Man http://www.heikowindisch.com/blog/2010/09/10/exit-man/ http://www.heikowindisch.com/blog/2010/09/10/exit-man/#comments Fri, 10 Sep 2010 12:31:27 +0000 http://www.heikowindisch.com/blog/?p=370 Exit Man

Exit Man had some great work posted on Society6, so I tried to find out more about him, her or them. Turns out it’s french, it’s male, it’s sprung from the mind of a man named Alesko. Wild stuff. But then again, I might be completely wrong.

Tom Gauld http://www.heikowindisch.com/blog/2010/09/07/tom-gauld/ http://www.heikowindisch.com/blog/2010/09/07/tom-gauld/#comments Tue, 07 Sep 2010 11:16:48 +0000 http://www.heikowindisch.com/blog/?p=366 Tom Gauld

Tom Gauld is a cartoonist and illustrator based in London. He has a weekly cartoon appearing in the Guardian, but I’m proud to say that I’ve known his work longer than that. His ballpoint pen work is chock full of wit, references to literature, sci-fi, history, monsters and warriors, i.e. things I go bonkers for and you should, too.

Alex McLeod Landscapes http://www.heikowindisch.com/blog/2010/08/17/alex-mcleod-landscapes/ http://www.heikowindisch.com/blog/2010/08/17/alex-mcleod-landscapes/#comments Tue, 17 Aug 2010 12:37:04 +0000 http://www.heikowindisch.com/blog/?p=322

Alex McLeod creates some of the most convincing and amazing digital landscapes I’ve ever seen. It smells like epoxy, styrofoam and wood glue, but it’s all virtual. He has two solo shows coming up soon: One at Angell Gallery in Toronto (opens August 26th), the other at Anno Domini in San Jose. Thumbs up! via My Love For You

It would have been cooler as a Van http://www.heikowindisch.com/blog/2010/07/15/it-would-have-been-cooler-as-a-van/ http://www.heikowindisch.com/blog/2010/07/15/it-would-have-been-cooler-as-a-van/#comments Thu, 15 Jul 2010 14:30:13 +0000 http://www.heikowindisch.com/blog/?p=236

The consuming public never gets tired of references to popular culture. Anyone who spent their formative years in the 1980s would get teary eyed for a project like “It would have been cooler as a van”. Designer Brandon Ortwein takes famous vehicles from pop culture past and turns them into vans. He even has a DeLorean van. Imagine that! Link.

The Wisdom of Alex Noriega http://www.heikowindisch.com/blog/2010/07/05/the-wisdom-of-alex-noriega/ http://www.heikowindisch.com/blog/2010/07/05/the-wisdom-of-alex-noriega/#comments Mon, 05 Jul 2010 17:40:11 +0000 http://www.heikowindisch.com/blog/?p=214

Alex Noriega is an illustrator from Barcelona. I’ve been following his work for some time now and it’s hard to think of many others who are as funny as he is. Now he’s started a blog where he fuses his humour with his illustration skills. On Stuff No-One Told Me, he posts small pictures with captions that are like zen to the modern urban illustrator. Or everyone else.

Found on Society6: ALVAREZ. There’s something about his (or her?) scratchboard-like pictures that’s like a punch to the…well, what? Judging by the scans of the pictures, he’s quite riding the negative space. Can’t wait to see more. ¡Que viva!

Joe Van Wetering (AKA Joevw) is one of the core Threadless shirt designers, but I also like his print designs and the delicate use of colour. Like a galactic candy store.
