heiko windisch dot com blog » misc http://www.heikowindisch.com/blog Hello, my name is Heiko Windisch, I am an artist and illustrator. This is my blog. Here you can find news, new work and other stuff I find worth sharing. Thanks for visiting! Fri, 04 Apr 2014 07:05:55 +0000 en-US hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=4.1.41 Hello Hallo Guten Tag http://www.heikowindisch.com/blog/2012/02/13/hello-hallo-guten-tag/ http://www.heikowindisch.com/blog/2012/02/13/hello-hallo-guten-tag/#comments Mon, 13 Feb 2012 03:59:14 +0000 http://www.heikowindisch.com/blog/?p=969 Once in a while I send out promo postcards to potential clients. Most of the writing on them is printed, but I illustrate the greeting and the address by hand, which is also a sort of creative exercise. I actually like the address illustrations a tad better, but it would be awkward to publish my mailing list, so I hope I get hired by loads of them, so I can publish their designs. HELLO!

P.S. If you’re an agency, magazine, company or other that would like to receive my promo mailers in the future, just leave a comment or contact me at heiko at heikowindisch.com!

Siggi Eggertsson is an Icelandic illustrator and designer living and working in Berlin. All his images are based on a tight grid, which he fills with curves, diagonal lines, gradients and a vibrant palette. This makes a pretty unmistakeable and accessible style and deservingly gives him a comfortable spot in the international illustrator’s jet set.

Sam Schuna is an illustrator and designer from Minnesota, who works with a big fat greek family of styles, none of which he loves less than the other. I like family men.

Exit Man had some great work posted on Society6, so I tried to find out more about him, her or them. Turns out it’s french, it’s male, it’s sprung from the mind of a man named Alesko. Wild stuff. But then again, I might be completely wrong.

Tom Gauld http://www.heikowindisch.com/blog/2010/09/07/tom-gauld/ http://www.heikowindisch.com/blog/2010/09/07/tom-gauld/#comments Tue, 07 Sep 2010 11:16:48 +0000 http://www.heikowindisch.com/blog/?p=366 Tom Gauld

Tom Gauld is a cartoonist and illustrator based in London. He has a weekly cartoon appearing in the Guardian, but I’m proud to say that I’ve known his work longer than that. His ballpoint pen work is chock full of wit, references to literature, sci-fi, history, monsters and warriors, i.e. things I go bonkers for and you should, too.

Alex McLeod Landscapes http://www.heikowindisch.com/blog/2010/08/17/alex-mcleod-landscapes/ http://www.heikowindisch.com/blog/2010/08/17/alex-mcleod-landscapes/#comments Tue, 17 Aug 2010 12:37:04 +0000 http://www.heikowindisch.com/blog/?p=322

Alex McLeod creates some of the most convincing and amazing digital landscapes I’ve ever seen. It smells like epoxy, styrofoam and wood glue, but it’s all virtual. He has two solo shows coming up soon: One at Angell Gallery in Toronto (opens August 26th), the other at Anno Domini in San Jose. Thumbs up! via My Love For You

Adidas Star Wars sneakers http://www.heikowindisch.com/blog/2010/08/15/adidas-star-wars-sneakers/ http://www.heikowindisch.com/blog/2010/08/15/adidas-star-wars-sneakers/#comments Sun, 15 Aug 2010 01:40:00 +0000 http://www.heikowindisch.com/blog/?p=302 darth vader sneakers (c)adidas

When I was about 14, I thought that adidas was the only acceptable brand of clothing on the planet. I was planning on slowly phasing out my entire wardrobe in favour of the three stripes. At the same time, I knew there was such a thing as Star Wars, but I did not care about it a bit. Nowadays, I don’t own any adidas pieces anymore (apart from a pair of running shoes I got in 1998 and a 1982 style German World Cup Jersey), but I’m more into Star Wars, even if I could do without the newer trilogy.
These days adidas and the Star Wars franchise have partnered up to deliver some fun sneakers inspired by characters from George Lucas’s mythology. I don’t really wear sneakers myself, but I like the aesthetics, and those are nice to look at.
More after the jump.
